Lately I have been wondering about the meaning of “fun“.
What does fun really mean? What are the things, the moments, the situations that truly define fun? And yet, is there a universal concept of fun?
A few years ago I would have said that coming back home at 7AM with heels in hand saying hello to the driver as if he was my best friend, was my idea of fun.
Now, my vision of entertainment has changed slightly, but it was this same change that made me realize that in reality, even when I was a party-addicted, I rarely had real fun dancing all night and drinking a Martini after another.
Is fun an end in itself or it can also include something more, let’s say, something practical and formative?
As for me, I choose the second option and thinking back to my past, I think in some way I would have answered the same.
I’m not saying I spend all my spare time among cultural gatherings and cinemas d’essai, but at this point in my life I think that having fun means to take a real break, to do something that makes you really feel ok with yourself and to surround yourself with positive people and energy.
That is to drink a glass of champagne on the sofa with your girlfriends, to have a romantic dinner, a party, a jazz concert…
All I’m asking to fun is to be true to my nature, my personality and my soul.
What do you think? What is your idea of fun?
