Finnish based company Marimekko, founded in 1951, is one of the most interesting expressions of Scandinavian design and lifestyle.
For their home decor SS 2016 collection, the first from new creative director Anna Teurnell, they combined the traditional Marimekko graphic style with a more sophisticated vibe.
The collection is inspired by the great work at Marimekko of women like Armi Ratia (Marimekko’s founder, 1912-1979), Maija Isola (Marimekko’s top designer in the 60s, 1927-2001), Annika Maria Rimala (Marimekko’s textile designer, 1936-2014) and Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi (author of the famous Jokapoika shirt from Marimekko, 1930).
A tribute to the ones that made Marimekko what it is today: a worldwide known and appreciated brand that never stops evolving, but always remains true to its soul.
For the first time, Marimekko also presents products such as glass vases and all-purposes fabrics.
Another proof of the dynamic essence of the Finnish label, as if we needed one.
